CHAMBER ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT
The Wagner Chamber of Commerce has announced Laura Wright as its new president, replacing past president Rachel Woods.
Laura Wright is a Wagner High School graduate who went on to receive her degree in accounting from Mitchell Technical Institute. She currently works as an accountant at Bures & Associates, P.C.. Laura served the past two years as Chamber of Commerce secretary and is on the church Board of Directors at East Lake Andes Lutheran Church where she also teaches Sunday school. Laura serves on the supervisory committee for Fort Randall Federal Credit Union, and volunteers where she can around the community.
“Laura was born and raised in Wagner – she knows the area and knows our business community,” Kelsey Doom, Director of Economic Development for Wagner Area Growth and Executive Director for Wagner Chamber of Commerce says. “She has been one of the most involved members of our Chamber of Commerce the past few years and I look forward to her new ideas and leadership style.”
The Wagner Chamber of Commerce, now serving over 105 members in addition to the community-at-large, works to create opportunities for area businesses and organizations to interact with and profit from traffic through the community, as well as put on events and offer services that lessen the locals’ needs to do business elsewhere.
“I have enjoyed serving as the secretary over the last couple of years, and I look forward to taking on the role of president!” Wright says.
The 2019 Chamber year will bring a few new offerings to the community, including a two-day Farm, Home, Garden & Sports Show as well as a community calendar for all community organizations’ events.
