Everyone knows a good dentist is hard to find. In honor of National Dentists Day on March 6th, 2004, local dentist, Dr. Hilary Haley, of Wagner Family Dental deserves to be recognized for all of her hard work and dedication to the Wagner and surrounding communities. Not only is the day a day of celebration and appreciation of dentists, but it also serves to bring awareness to the dentistry field itself and how to better care for one’s teeth.
Hilary Haley has been a practicing dentist since 1997 when she graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ dental school. She attended the same university for her undergraduate degree in biology. She knew in college that being a dentist was her calling. When asked what made her want to become a dentist, Hilary said that she loved the field of biology and wanted to be able to help people. She chose the dental field as opposed to other health care professions because to her being a dentist is like being in an art class. As a dentist, Hilary is able to help people create beautiful smiles and feel confident in themselves.
As a dentist, Hilary enjoys most being able to help cease people’s mouth pain, restoring smiles and being able to talk to her patients and hear their different stories. Hilary’s advice to everyone would be that flossing is as important as brushing and that people should come in for regular checkups twice a year.
Hilary has three children, two sons and a daughter. One of her sons and his wife live in Mitchell. Her other son is a senior at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion and her daughter is a freshman at the University of Minnesota. Hilary loves architecture and cooking. She enjoys traveling but unfortunately does not get to do it as she would like to. When she does have free time, she does like to spend it with her friends and family.
Thank you, Dr. Haley for your hard work and service to the Wagner and surrounding communities. Your dedication to the field of dentistry does not go unnoticed.
