During the ceremony, Carda was presented the Iron Soldier Award. The high physical training award is awarded to the Soldier(s) that achieves the highest score on the Army Combat Fitness Test during Basic Combat Training. Carda scored 592/600. Carda is the son of Gina Carda, Wagner, and Mike Carda, Lake Andes. Grandparents are Doug and Mitsy Woods, Wagner, Jan and Butch Martin, Wagner, and Mary Carda, Lake Andes. Norman Woods, Lake Andes, is great-grandfather.
