Local students put their spelling skills to the test recently during the annual school spelling bee, with participants competing by grade level for top honors.

In first grade, Teagan earned first place, followed by Cheyenne in second and Dominic in third. Azriel claimed the top spot in second grade, with Adriel placing second and Cason finishing third. Third-grade honors went to Evyn in first, Waylon in second, and Christina in third. In fourth grade, Memphis took first place, Ivy finished second, and Heaven earned third. Bradley captured first place in fifth grade, followed by Kyvon in second and Ariel in third.

First- and second-place finishers from each grade level will advance to the Missouri Valley Regional Spelling Bee, scheduled for Feb. 19 in Bonesteel.
