BRUGUIER NEW OWNER OF BARBER SHOP

The morning of Friday, February 28th, started out like any other day for most of Wagner’s residents, but for one family, it was a day unlike any other. For Quentin Yamni Bruguier III, that day became the start of a new business adventure as he and his wife, Chiara, purchased the Wagner Barbershop from owner Marty Dresden.

Quentin and Chiara, both graduates of Wagner Community School, classes of 2001 and 2002, moved back to Wagner a year ago. Quentin had just finished earning his barbering degree from the College of Hair Design in Lincoln, NE. He had been trying to get a barber shop going since the family had gotten settled in the area, but nothing was panning out. After talking to a few Wagner residents Quentin learned that there might be an opportunity to buy The Wagner Barbershop on Main Street. From the moment that the couple decided to pursue buying the barbershop, everything quickly and naturally fell into place and they knew that Quentin’s dream was going to become reality.

Being able to purchase the barbershop from the son of Wagner’s Jim “The Barber” Dresden has a special meaning to Quentin. As a little boy around the age of six years old, Quentin’s mom started taking him to get his hair cut by then barber, Jim Dresden. He remembers how kind and loving Jim was whenever he would come in for a haircut. Quentin even remembers asking Jim if he could shave the letters QB and number 23 into his hair, which Jim happily did. Those memories stayed with Quentin and it was not lost on him how his experiences have come full circle as Quentin will now be the barber who has the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the clients that sit in his chair.

Sioux Barber operating as The Wagner Barbershop, which will be the barbershop’s new name, is currently in the renovation process, giving the shop a needed face-lift. Quentin cannot wait to get behind the chair and hopes to have the renovations done and in business within the next couple of weeks. He will also be expanding the barbershop’s services to include not only haircuts, but straight razor shaves, facial and scalp massages and even perms.

For Quentin the best part about being a barber is getting to see the smiles on client’s faces when they get up from his chair and leave the shop. It makes him incredibly happy to be able to boost people’s confidence in themselves with a great haircut. As a father, Quentin knows how important a confidence booster can be, especially for younger kids. He wants to be able to give the kids of the Wagner community that same confidence boost that Jim’s haircuts always gave him.

When asked what he felt were qualities that make a good barber, Quentin’s response was reliability. He wants to be known as the barber that is present and open during his set hours, so that the community knows that they can not only rely on him to be there, but can rely on a great haircut and experience as well. As a person is passionate about his craft, Quentin stays up to date on the latest hair techniques, trends, equipment and products by continuing his education whether it be watching YouTube videos or going to a yearly hair show to learn new techniques and talk with industry leaders.

To be back in his hometown doing a profession that he is passionate about means everything to Quentin. He is excited to get to serve his community and give back with personal interactions and building relationships with his clients. His hope is to be an uplifting and inspiring force in the Wagner and surrounding communities.

Business hours as of now will be Tuesdays through Saturdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays he will be in the shop from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Wednesdays and Fridays will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and then Saturdays will be walk-in appointments only from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Quentin plans to use an appointment booking app called, Booksy, which he is in the process of setting up.

Quentin and Chiara have four children Titus (23), Kalia (21), Quiara (18) and Noah (8). The couple also has two grandsons, Tatum (3) and Tyan (2). His hobbies over the years have included playing softball and coaching basketball.

Congratulations Quentin and Chiara on your new business and welcome home! Be sure to watch the Announcer for more information and details on Sioux Barber operating as The Wagner Barbershop.
