On Wednesday, June 25, Wagner’s American Legion Post 11 Junior and Senior Legion teams traveled to Scotland for a double dip against the Scotland- Menno-Freeman-Canistota 79ers.
The juniors were first and would end up losing by a 6-3 score that went five innings due to time constraints. Edward Ulrich pitched four innings giving up six earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one.
Ulrich, Avery Medicine Bear, Dominic Doom, Beau Otte, and Brannon Bruguier all collected one hit for Wagner. Otte scored once and drove in a run. Medicine Bear and Javian Pesicka each collected an RBI with Pesicka scoring a run as well.
In the second game of the evening, the senior legion team would drop their second game in as many nights as they would fall by a count of 11-4.
Brady Cournoyer started on the hill and pitched 5.1 innings. He allowed eleven runs, eight earned, on eight hits while walking four and striking out four. Ulich pitched the last twothirds of the inning. He gave up three hits and struck out one.
Joey Cournoyer is still swinging a good bat as he and Frank Soukup each collected two hits with one of Cournoyer’s being a double. Soukup scored one time and Cournoyer twice. Carter Cournoyer added a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Dominic Doom had the only other Wagner hit while Otte drew a bases loaded walk to drive in a run.
