BON HOMME COUNTY FOOD PANTRY REMODEL AND EXPANSION
In October of 2001, the Bon Homme County Food Pantry was moved from the Father Cronin Center at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Tyndall to its current location in the Old City Fire Hall. Shirley Mann was the food pantry manager under the leadership of the Bon Homme Ministerial Association.
InJanuaryof2021,theCityof Tyndall granted the food pantry additional space in the Old Fire Hall to expand. A building fund campaign allowed construction of the expansion and remodel to begin the latter part of January. Construction wascompletedinSeptemberof 2021. During the down period, the pantry was run out of the shop driveway and customers would fill out order forms and volunteers filled their orders. This was during Covid and everyone was trying to stay safe and the Pantry never had to close due to illness. The pantry reopened on a normal basis in June 2022.
Customers have been enjoying thenewspaceandremodel. The Pantry is grateful for the county, cities and families in Bon Homme County who donated time and monetary donations for our beautiful new home.
The Pantry is open to Bon HommeCountyresidentsneeding food assistance. The hours are Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon EXCEPT the second Wednesday of the month when it is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Pantry is located at 105 E. 17th Avenue in Tyndall.
InDecember2021thePantry served 28 families (69 individuals). The Pantry assisted 45 families (99 individuals) in December 2022 so we are very grateful for the added space for storing food and supplies. Thanks Bon Homme County foraPantrythatcanhelpthose with food insecurity.
