Last Friday night, Bon Homme County 4-H members and their friends were wide awake at the second annual 4-H lock-in. The lock-in was hosted by the Bon Homme County 4-H leaders and volunteers overnight on Friday, March 20 at the county 4-H grounds.
The lock-in was a chance for youth to make crafts that can be exhibited at Achievement Days, as well as play games, tour the Tyndall Bakery and build friendships to last a lifetime.
This year’s event attracted 36 youth from all over the county. 4-H members had the option to bring a friend that isn’t already involved in 4-H.
Some of the crafts that youth created were; putting together a candy jar that resembled Olaf from the hit children’s movie “Frozen”, making string art, assembling a fridge magnet made out of a mouse trap, assembling a flower pencil topper, and making a t-shirt with a 4-H clover on it.
While touring the bakery youth got to see the day-to-day operations of the bakery in the early morning hours. After the tour they got to take fresh donuts back to the 4-H grounds for breakfast. Not only was the lock-in a chance for youth to create several crafts, but also build friendships and create memories to last a lifetime.
