The 2021 Bon Homme County 4-H Achievement Days ended with the Senior and Junior Round Robin Showmanship Contest. Contestants that competed were Seniors Brock Kotalik, Riley Hellmann, Hayden Talsma, Landon Thury and Lincoln Thury. Juniors were Emma Balvin, Carmindy Ferwerda, Peyton Hellmann, Rilyn Thury and Tarynn Torsney. In the Senior Division Riley Hellmann received the Grand Champion award and Lincoln Thury received Reserve Champion. In the Junior Division Peyton Hellmann received the Grand Champion award and Tarynn Torsney was awarded Reserve Champion.

BOHEMIAN TRACTOR PULL

Jason Kokes and Steven Vellek organized a Bohemian Tractor Pull at the Chamber BBQ Friday evening with seven teams participating in the event. Winners were 14-18 Division: F 2 T 2, Carmindy Ferwerda, Justin Ferwerda, Landon Thury and Lincoln Thury. 19-35 Division: Average Joe’s, Micah DeBoer, Jordan Gall, Kade Hellmann and Riley Hellmann. 36 and Up: Fat & The Furious, John Haase, Ben Hellmann, Damon Mogck and Shane Walter. Winners were awarded Chamber bucks from all five communities.

The fashion show followed in the park and was coordinated by Jill Kotalik and Lisa Sestak. Brock Kotalik received a purple rosette and the Senior Fashion Revue Award in the selected category for his polo shirt and black pants. Joslyn Kotalik received a purple rosette and the Junior Fashion Revue award in the constructed category for her sewn dress. In addition, purple ribbons also went to Brock Kotalik and Breaw Neth. Blue ribbons went to Charlianna Paulsen and Joslyn Kotalik.

Elyse Torsney was awarded the Top Senior Judging Award and the following received ribbons for the Consumer Decision Making Contest, a purple ribbon went to Brock Kotalik, blue ribbons went to Senior Maddy Huitema, Junior Arryanna Schnetzer and Beginner Ian Torsney and red ribbons went to Junior Ty Stepka and Beginner Joslyn Kotalik.

The Swine Show was held Saturday. July 30th, with Robert Rasmussen, of Hurley, as our judge.

Overall Grand Champion Breeding Swine was presented to Brock Kotalik and Overall Reserve Champion Breeding Swine went to Rilyn Thury. Breeding Swine purple ribbons went to Brock Kotalik (2), Joslyn Kotalik (2), Landon Thury, Lincoln Thury, Rilyn Thury, and Ethan Wagner.

Overall Grand Champion Market Swine was presented to Lincoln Thury for his Chester White Market Gilt. Overall Reserve Champion was presented to Lincoln Thury for his Duroc Market Gilt. Rate-of-Gain was presented to Brock Kotalik with an average daily gain of 2.77 pounds.

ROUND ROBIN SHOWMANSHIP

Judging the Round Robin Event were Mark Misar in Beef, Steve Sutera in Dairy, Pat Sutera in Swine, Holly McCann in Goat and Blair Maggs in Horse.

Riley Hellmann won Grand Champion in the Senior Round Robin Showmanship Contest. Lincoln Thury won Reserve Champion. Brock Kotalik, Landon Thury and Hayden Talsma also participated in the Senior Round Robin Showmanship Contest.

Peyton Hellmann received Grand Champion for Junior Round Robin Showmanship. Tarynn Torsney won Reserve Champion. Emma Balvin, Carmindy Ferwerda and Rilyn Thury also participated in the Junior Round Robin Contest.

PERFORMANCE PROJECT

Performance Project is a compilation of an interview, test and showmanship. The Performance Project awards for the Senior Division were 1st place – Addison Haase, 2nd place Elyse Torsney and 3rd place Brock Kotalik. Junior Division awards were awarded to: 1st place – Tarynn Torsney, 2nd place – Emma Balvin and 3rd place – Sophia Schott. Beginner Division awards were awarded to: 1st place – Campbell Mogck, 2nd place – Kinsley Dvoracek and 3rd place – Ian Torsney.
