Nine Bon Homme County 4-H Jr. Leaders went to Pierre January 17th for a day of learning and civic engagement. They were able to attend part of a House Judiciary Committee meeting and a town hall meeting with District 19 Representative Drew Peterson and House Minority Leader Oren Lesmeister. They also participated in a scavenger hunt around the capitol, attended a Democratic Caucus meeting, and then watched the House work through some of the day's business before heading for home. There was also time for some SDSU ice cream and a photo opportunity with the senators and representatives. District 19 Representatives Drew Peterson and Jessica Bahmuller are both 4-H alumni, and they shared possibilities for future leadership opportunities as well as sharing how well 4-H had helped prepare them for their life after high school.
