BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MINUTES

BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

APRIL 9, 2019

The Charles Mix County Board of Equalization met in regular session on April 9, 2019 at 10:00 am. Chairman Neil Von Eschen called the meeting to order with Commissioners Keith Mushitz and Nick Stotz present. Director of Equalization, Denise Weber and Auditor Sara K. Clayton were also present.

Agenda:

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Stotz to approve the Agenda as presented. All in favor, motion carried.

Minutes:

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Stotz to approve the minutes from the April 24, 2018 meeting. All in favor, motion carried.

Election:

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Von Eschen to nominate Stotz as Chairman. A unanimous vote was cast. All in favor, motion carried. A motion was made by Von Eschen and seconded by Stotz to nominate Mushitz as Vice-Chairman. A unanimous vote was cast. All in favor, motion carried.

Oaths:

Oaths of office were read and signed.

Assessment Freeze for Elderly & Disabled:

A motion was made by Von Eschen and seconded by Mushitz to approve Resolution 2019-03 to reduce the values on all properties by the Director of Equalization that qualify for the Elderly & Disabled Assessment Tax Freeze. All in favor, motion carried.

Property Tax Credit on Renewable Resource Systems:

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Von Eschen to approve Resolution 2019-04 to reduce the values on all properties that qualify for the Renewable Resource Energy Tax Credit by the Director of Equalization. All in favor, motion carried.

Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemptions:

A motion was made by Von Eschen and seconded by Mushitz to approve Resolution 2019-05 to reduce the values on all properties that qualify for the Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemptions by the Director of Equalization. All in favor, motion carried.

Addition of Omitted Property to Assessment Rolls:

The Commission reviewed the listing of Omitted Property to be added to the tax rolls. A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Von Eschen to send notice to add omitted properties. Hearings will be held at the April 25, 2019 meeting. All in favor, motion carried.

Tax Exempt Status Applications:

The following tax-exempt applications were presented to the Board:

•Geddes Community Industrial Development Corporation; Lots 17-18, Blk 29, Town of Geddes

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Von Eschen to accept application for the tax-exempt status of the above property. All in favor, motion carried.

County-Wide Valuations:

A motion was made by Mushitz and seconded by Von Eschen to approve the review of the County Valuations. All in favor motion carried.

Adjourn:

A motion was made by Von Eschen and seconded by Mushitz to adjourn until April 25, 2019 at 1:00 pm as the County Board of Equalization. All in favor, motion carried.
