BIG CHANGES HAPPENING AT LAKE ANDES FARMERS COOP
If you haven’t noticed there have been some big changes going on at the Lake Andes Farmers Coop. Land and a building have been cleared to allow for a new 116 foot outdoor scale. The scale has been set in place and the Coop plans to have it operational for small grain harvest in a few weeks. Deb Cooney, general manager stated, “The old scale just wasn’t able to handle the bigger trucks and the tight turn coming off the scale. It has served its purpose and it is time to move on to something more accessible for the farmers. In many cases, trucks had to back out of the scale causing traffic congestion and creating a risk for a traffic accident. We designed the new scale and entrance points with safety in mind and to provide the most efficient flow for grain trucks during harvest. The coop also in stalled new Wayne Fueling Pumps in late May. The pumps are digital and available 24 -7, and run off of a preprogrammed key fob. The pumps provide an easy convenient way for coop members to fuel up anything from a car, to a boat , to a semi. Stop by the office to see if you are eligible for a fuel key and remember we pay a patronage!"
