BHSA-28, Yankton-24 On January 23 at Tyndall, the Bon Homme/Scotland/ Avon girls won a 28-24 dual vs. Yankton. Yankton took a big 18-0 lead as Adrianna Boucher won by fall over Tatum Palsma in 1:53 at 100, Chloe Caton won by fall over Sydney Johnson in 5:28 at 115, and Alexis Brenden won by fall over Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz in 5:23 at 120. The hosts scored the next 22 points with Charlie Faehnrich taking a forfeit at 125, Harper Kracht won a major decision 15-2 over Sofia Delgado at 130, Hadlee Kracht at 135 won by fall over Jaclyn Kyte in 1:48, and Bailey Kemnitz won by forfeit at 140. The teams traded forfeits at 145 and 190 with Winry Yaggie and Hope Kemnitz giving the home team a four-point win. Fifth at Harrisburg, Hadlee Kracht champion With seven place-winners, BHSA finished with 118.5 points good for fifth place at the Harrisburg Tournament on January 16. Hadlee Kracht-first at 130; second place finishers were Charlie Faehnrich-115 JV, Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-120, Hope Kemitz-190; third to Harper Kracht-125; fourth to Tatum Paslma-100, and fifth to Sydney Johnson-115. Tatum Palsma-100 went 3-2 winning by fall over Jenavecyah Moulton (SF Jefferson) in 2:31, and over Adrianna Boucher (Yankton) in 2:29, lost to eventual champion and fourthrated Shaylee Speck (Pierre) by fall in :31, won by fall over Chesley Marquez (Flandreau) in 4:51, and lost to Paisley Stewart (Aberdeen) by fall in 2:39 for fourth place. Charlie Faehnrich-115 JV lost to Avyn Waldo (Aberdeen) by fall in 2:20, but came back to win the next two defeating Grace Klien (Flandreau) by fall in :29 and Tarryn Haisch (Beresford/Alcester-Hudson) by fall in :20 for second. Sydney Johnson-115 was 2-2 with a bye, winning by fall over Dayani Long (SF Washington) in 4:33, losing to eventual champion and secondrated Brooklynn Randall (Watertown) by fall in 1:22, lost a 9-8 decision to Nika Rasmussen (Lennox), and won by fall over Long (SF Washington) by fall in 1:47 for fifth. Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-120 won three matches by fall heading to the finals over Abril Ayala Ramirez (Milbank) in :51, over Arianna Goldade (Aberdeen) in 1:19, and over Alexis Brenden (Yankton) in 4:45. After an elbow injury, Jasmine lost by medical forfeit to second-rated Olivia Anderson (Watertown) for second. Harper Kracht-125 lost her first match to Jayda Hoffman (Aberdeen) in 3:25, but came back winning the next three over Harper Olson (Beresford/ Alcester-Hudson) by fall in 4:27, over Layne Heasley (Pierre) 6-2, and over Hoffman (Aberdeen) 1-0 for third. Hadlee Kracht-130 had a bye, won by fall over Say Ri (Aberdeen) in :44, over Mohrgan Werdel (Miller/ Highmore-Harold) by fall in 2:32, and winning a 14-4 major decision over seventh-rated Brenna Reker (Brandon Valley) for first. Bailey Kemnitz-140 had a bye, lost to number one-rated Brooke Grajczyk (Watertown) by tech fall in 4:50, won by fall over Macy Johnke (Miller/ Highmore-Harold) in :27, and lost to Hailey Fortney (West Central) by fall in 3:57. Hope Kemnitz-190 won by fall over Tayla Schiltz (Harrisburg) in 1:47, and over Kyra Tostenson (Milbank) by tech fall in 6:00, and lost in the championship to second-rated Allison Konrad (Watertown) by fall in 1:25 for second. Aberdeen Central won with 201 points, followed by Watertown-163.5, Pierre T.F. Riggs-147.5, Brandon Valley-133, Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon-118.5, Harrisburg-82, Yankton-71, Sioux Falls Washington-60, Miller/Highmore-Harold-45.5, and Tea Area-41 listing the top ten teams out of 27. Comments: We looked pretty flat against Yankton, but avenged two of those losses (Tatum and Jasmine) at Harrisburg. Bailey has had the unfortunate draw in her last three tournaments meeting the number-one seed each time, but she has been improving in each of those contests. Congratulations to Hadlee.
