BEST DAM VIRTUAL 5K HELD JUNE 7-13
The Wagner Area Health & Wellness Consortium held its Best Dam VIRTUAL 5K during the week of June 7-13. Normally, this annual race would have taken place at Randall Creek near the Ft. Randall Dam, but this year in order to make it safe and maintain social distancing recommendations participants had the opportunity to complete a virtual 5k.
The top three female finishers were: 1. Whitney Podzimek- 22:45, 2. Julie Alderink- 24:08, and 3. Alcista Dion- 24:14. The top 3 male finishers were: 1. Richard Langdeaux Jr- 16:26, 2. Matt Williams- 23:18 and 3. Terry Bruguier Jr- 24:58.
Also finishing in the top 20 were: Sara Koupal, Aryn Koupal, Henry Hayward, Leah Insko, Kristi Koupal, Jaycie Culbert, Melissa Schenefeld, Rachel Freidel, Stacy Holzbauer, Joseph White Horse, Blanca Moreno, Keisha Bruguier, Emily Brunsing and Annessa Bruguier. There were 72 total participants.
The 5K was free to participate in. The Wagner IHS Diabetes Program sponsored t-shirts for local participants and non-local participants also had the option to purchase a shirt to be shipped directly to them. The local shirts are ready for pick-up at Apparel Worx.
The consortium was excited to offer this event as a great way to get outdoors, get some exercise, and have fun! The mission of the consortium is to combine resources of each entity to maximize the health and wellness opportunities for Wagner and the surrounding communities. The consortium emphasizes family centered education and activities to promote improved health and wellness now and in the future.
