PROVERBS 23:17 'Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be in the fear of the Lord all the day long.'(KJV) Some times when driving along the highway we can see something that sort of makes us envy the driver of the vehicle we see.

He has a 30,000 dollar truck, a 70,000 dollar camper, and behind the camper is a 20,000dollar boat. He is heading for the lake for the day.

Now the Bible says' let not thine heart envy sinners'.

Just think of how much joy this fellow has when he looks at the payments that must be made for the truck, the camper and his boat. All of a sudden the costs of these items take away from the joy of having them.

Now we must realize that whatever we have has been provided by the Lord, we should be grateful for whatever He provides. He will only provide those things that we really need.

And doing so he makes us happy.

But the sinners possess expensive worldly things that eventually are not so enjoyable for them--and still not paid for--they don't care for them as they did when they were new. Worldly things wear out and become useless to them.

Now let's consider what God has given you: When you are saved He gives you a forgiven soul.

He gives you a promise of eternal life in heaven--joy, peace, happiness, no sickness, no pain, and a new spiritual life that will never die.

This gift of salvation is yours forever, it will never wear out, for eternity.

Now that truck, camper and boat just don't seem so good after all. The truck rusts out and stops running, the camper needs repair, the boat leaks and the motor stops. And the man with these worldly possessions is left empty handed, sorrowful and still owing for the payments for things he cannot use.

Our Scripture tells us to be content with what God has given us now because for us the best is yet to come.

Are you content or wanting worldly things?
