Hold onto your paddles — things are about to get hilariously out of hand at the 605 Unity Jam! On June 15 at 5:30 PM, Wagner Lake becomes the epicenter of chaos and comedy during the Battle of the Blindfolded Boaters, an event where teamwork, trust, and possibly a sense of direction (or lack thereof) will be put to the test.
Here’s How It Works: Each canoe team consists of two members. One unlucky soul — seated at the front — is blindfolded and in charge of paddling. The second member sits in the back, shouting directions and hopefully keeping their cool as the team attempts to paddle from the south shore, around a buoy, and back to shore — without veering off into the reeds or doing endless donuts in open water. Hilarity is not only expected — it’s practically guaranteed.
Three Wild Races: There’s a little something for everyone: Youth Division (ages 8–15) Adult Division (ages 16+) Mixed Division (one adult + one youth) Each race is limited to six teams, so if you’re feeling brave, register by June 10 to secure your spot!
Kickoff - Canoe Calcutta Auction: The madness begins at 5:30 PM with a lively Calcutta auction, where you can place bids on teams to add a little competitive flair — and maybe walk away with bragging rights (and trophy, too!).
Come for the Competition, Stay for the Costumes. Fastest paddlers win a prize, but there’s more than one way to take home a trophy. Best Team Spirit awards will go to the teams with the most outrageous costumes and over-the-top boat decorations (think cardboard unicorn horns and disco ball helmets — not motors, please).
Whether you’re racing, shouting, or just watching from the sidelines, this canoe race is guaranteed to be the splash hit of the summer. All proceeds go toward Wagner Pool Fundraising, so every chaotic paddle stroke is for a good cause.
Don’t Wait — Register Early! Spots are limited and the race is too funny to miss. To sign up, register your team by June 10 and get ready to paddle, laugh, and maybe spin in a few circles. Registration forms can be picked up at First Dakota Bank or found at https:// docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-CZaaiPl4Q00AJ33xsYPyDn02CLYxCRHY6SA4w_ rRCptzvLA/viewform?usp=preview. Join the madness at the 605 Unity Jam. One lake. Three races. Dozens of blindfolded paddlers. Zero regrets.
