The Avon Lady Pirates hosted Tripp/Delmont/Armour on Thursday, February 12 and came away with a solid 43-33 victory. Avon built momentum throughout the night and relied on balanced scoring and defensive pressure to secure the 10-point win. Jordyn Voigt led the Pirates with 13 points. Rilyn Thury followed with 12 points, while Lexi Vanderlei added 11 to round out a strong offensive showing. Thury recorded a double-double effort, pulling down 10 rebounds to go along with her 12 points. Vanderlei contributed seven rebounds on the night. Thury also filled the stat sheet with three assists and six steals, creating opportunities for Avon on both ends of the court. As a team, the Pirates shot 27 percent from the field, connecting on 13 of 48 attempts. Avon hit 30 percent from three-point range (6 of 20), 25 percent on two-point attempts (7 of 28), and 61 percent from the free throw line, sinking 11 of 18. The team took care of the basketball, committing just five turnovers. The Avon Lady Pirates hosted Bridgewater/Emery on February 10 and held on for an exciting 42-39 victory. In a tightly contested matchup, the Pirates did just enough down the stretch to secure the three-point win in front of their home crowd. Rilyn Thury led the scoring effort with 12 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds to help anchor the Pirates on both ends of the floor. Kaydence Metzger added six rebounds in the win. As a team, Avon shot 38 percent from the field, connecting on 15 of 40 attempts. The Pirates were 11 percent from beyond the arc (1 of 9), 45 percent on two-point attempts (14 of 31), and 61 percent from the free throw line, sinking 11 of 18 from the charity stripe.
