The Avon 12U softball team battled against nine other teams to win the 12U REC tournament of the Little Missouri Softball league. In game one, Avon defeated Springfield by a score of 12-0. Leading hitters for Avon were Rowan Brandt with 2 singles and Ashley Soukup with a double. Harper Kracht was on the Hill for Avon. She struck out 8 in 3 innings of work. In game two, Avon Defeated the Menno Wolves by a score of 12-0. Harper Kracht led all hitters with 2 singles and a homerun. Emersyn Haenfler added two singles while Kensley DeVries, Johanna Namminga, and Ashley Soukup added one hit each. Harper pitched two innings, striking out three while Emersyn pitched a perfect last inning, striking out three. In game three, Avon defeated Platte by a score of 8-0. Kensley DeVries had two hits including a double, Ashley Soukup added two singles, while Rowan had a single and Johanna Namminga doubled. Harper Kracht pitched four innings, striking out four. In the championship game, Avon defeated Parkston by a score of 13-2. Emersyn Haenfler and Harper Kracht each had three hits apiece. Sydney Johnson had two singles. Johanna Namminga hit a grand slam in the second inning. Rowan Brandt, Kensley DeVries, and Stella Ratzlaff all added one hit each. Harper pitched four innings, striking out three. Avon played excellent defense for the entire tournament.
