On the road and under pressure, the Avon Pirates didn’t flinch. Facing Corsica/Stickney on September 12th, Avon delivered a dominant performance, shaking off an early deficit and roaring back to secure a commanding 54-8 victory. Corsica/Stickney struck first in the second quarter with a touchdown and two-point conversion, briefly taking an 8-0 lead. But that was the last time they’d find the end zone, as Avon’s offense and defense, quickly took control. The Pirates answered immediately. Cale Cooper ignited the momentum shift with a 5-yard touchdown run. Moments later, Trent Soukup punched in a 4-yard touchdown and followed it with a successful two-point conversion. Cooper wasn’t done, slicing through the defense for a 15-yard touchdown, and Grayson Ratzlaff added the two-point run to give Avon a 22-8 lead at halftime. Coming out of the break, Avon didn’t slow down, in fact, they found another gear. In the third quarter, Cooper broke loose for a 50-yard touchdown run, and Soukup added the two-point conversion. Easton Sees then exploded for a 53-yard touchdown of his own, with Cooper capping it off by running in the conversion. Before the quarter ended, Cooper returned to the end zone with a 1-yard touchdown run, his fourth of the night, followed by another two-point run from Ratzlaff. Avon sealed the game in the fourth with a final scoring drive led by Zander Fathke, who dashed in for a 15-yard touchdown and added the two-point conversion himself, bringing the final score to 54-8. Offensive Standouts: Cale Cooper led the charge with 151 rushing yards and four touchdowns, along with a two-point conversion. Trent Soukup contributed 70 rushing yards, one touchdown, and one two-point conversion. Easton Sees tallied 63 rushing yards and a long touchdown run.
