The South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) Academic Achievement Team Award recognizes athletic teams and fine arts groups for their academic excellence. This award was first established during the 1996-1997 school year. In order to be eligible for this award, a team must participate in SDHSAA sponsored activities and have a combined grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. This award is designed to encourage school “teams” to excel in both the classroom and their activity. This years Avon School District teams that qualified for this award are boys golf, boys track and field, girls golf, girls track and field, large group band, large group chorus, and softball.
