The Avon School District welcomed a new second grade teacher this 2024-2025 school year, Kim Van Winkle. This is Kim’s sixth year of teaching having previously taught K-8th grade for the colony and most recently preschool at Wagner. Kim originally grew up on a farm near Dante. Kim has always loved working with children. She enjoys seeing their faces light up with curiosity and adventure. What made her want to join the Avon School District was she could see what a close-knit kind of school Avon is and the overall positive school environment that it provides for its students. What Kim is looking forward to this year is getting to know each of the students and getting to see their capabilities and strengths. Her goal for the school year is to build relationships with her students while keeping them engaged in their education and learning experiences. Kim is married to her husband, Scott. The couple has three children, Tenley, SJ and Titan along with their dog, Oreo. When Kim has free time, she enjoys spending it with her family and friends doing a variety of activities and enjoying as much time outside as possible. She is also a very active member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante and keeps busy participating in church related activities. An item on Kim’s bucket list would be to travel. She would love to see beautiful scenery around the United State and make it to the ocean. Welcome to the Avon School District, Kim.
