AVON PIRATES FOOTBALL SEASON KICKS OFF WITH BIG WIN 60-38

Avon Pirates kicked off their season Friday night at Colman-Egan where they dominated taking the win 60-38. In the first quarter Aziah Meyer put two touchdowns on the scoreboard with a 15 yard run and a 49 yard run. The defense did a great job keeping their opponents scoreless. In the second quarter Landon Mudder added a touchdown with Easton Sees running in the two-point conversion. Meyer came on strong again in the third quarter adding 3 more touchdowns with a 75 yard kickoff return and 2-point conversion, a 61 yard run and 2 point conversion followed by a 60 yard kickoff return and 2-point conversion. In the fourth quarter Meyer added his final touchdown on the night with a 15 yard run and 2-point conversion. Grayson Ratzlaff also added a touchdown to the scoreboard to help the Pirates take the big win 60-38. Leading the scoreboard was Aziah Meyer who had a great night for 210 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 kickoff returns. On the defense, Al'Shamon Gunter led with 10 tackles, 8 assists and 2 sacks on the night. Trenton Soukup had 4 tackles, Meyer and Ratzlaff each had 2 tackles, and Mudder, Treyvan Talsma, Randall Powers, Lance Odens, Weston Bierema each had 1 tackles on the night. The Pirates will travel to Sioux Falls have Friday, August 30th to face off against Sioux Falls Lutheran and their first home game will be held September 6th against Burke with kick off at 7 p.m. Congratulations Pirates and good luck on your season!
