Avon 2 - Gayville/Volin 16 Avon Varsity pirates had trouble keeping up with Gayville Volin in a 16-2 loss on Monday. Gayville scored 5 in the first and then three in the top of the second. Avon pulled closer on an inside the park HR by Rilyn Thury. That ended the scoring threat for Avon. Kaydence Metzger and Macy Voigt were on the hill for the Lady Pirates. Thury and Macy Voigt each collected two hits with Thury collecting both RBI’s. Avon 4, Wagner 19 Pria Sesler drove in five runs on three hits to lead Avon Varsity Pirates past Wagner 19-4 on Thursday. Wagner opened the scoring in the top of the 1st by scoring three runs. However, the Pirates flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 5-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a lead off solo home-run to left field by Jordyn Voigt. The Pirates scored 6 runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Macy Voigt singled, scoring one run, Sesler singled scoring two runs following by a triple by Abby Gretschmann. The Pirates then scored eight runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the 3rd. Macy Voigt singled scoring one, Kaeli Wallinga singled scoring one, Sesler tripled scoring two runs, Karlie DeVries doubled scoring two runs, Gretschmann doubled scoring one run and Jordyn Voigt doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Rilyn Thury led things off in the circle for Avon. She gave up 7 hits and four runs over 3 innings, striking out five and only walking one. The Pirates collected 21 hits in the game. Macy Voigt went 4-4 at the plate to lead the pirates. Jordyn Voigt, Gretschmann, DeVries, Thury and Ashley Tolsma each collected multiple hits for the Pirates. The Pirates also stole seven bases. Avon 0, Bon Homme 10 In the nightcap, the Pirates lost to Bon Homme 10-0. Thury and Macy Voigt were on the hill for the Pirates.
