AVON MUSIC DEPARTMENT ENJOYS SENIOR MUSIC TRIP IN MINNEAPOLIS

By
: Autumn Schultz
On June 20th, members of the Avon Music Department headed to Minneapolis for their Senior Music Trip. They have fundraised for this since their freshman year and were able to pack a lot of activities in during their two days in the city. The seniors in attendance were Kley Heumiller, Kalee Mixon, Sarah Swier, Kimberly Tolsma, Makenzie Sassaman, and Madilyn Mudder. Chaperoning the trip were choir and band teachers Autumn Schultz and Mataya Larsgaard. The group left early from Avon Tuesday morning, arriving in Minneapolis in time to utilize the Great Wolf Lodge water park for several hours. They got ready and ate sushi at a rooftop restaurant across the street from the theater. Then, they walked to the Orpheum theater to see the hilarious, excellent musical "Tootsie". Another exciting part was meeting local celebrities, sisters that star on the HGTV show "Renovations 911". On June 21st they went for coffees at a cutesy coffee shop, followed by hiking by the waterfall Minnehaha Falls. We then rented Surrey bikes where we got quite the workout in, following a map of trails at this scenic park. We arrived to the girls' newest favorite spot, Mall of America. We rode some thrill rides together and shopped 'til our feet hurt. We enjoyed some Bubba Gump Shrimp Company food and headed for home. One final stop was the necessary Largest Candy Store in Minnesota. What a successful, fun trip full of a few more memories before these students all head their separate ways! Thanks to all who support us throughout the year so that we can continue to make this tradition possible year after year. We truly appreciate it!
