The Avon Public Library held their annual Christmas Story on Saturday, November 25th at 2 p.m. Each year a new book is chosen to be read for the annual event. This year’s book was The Grinch Who Lost Christmas by Alastair Heim. Library board member, Julie Minow, read the story. Julie was chosen to read the story because it was her idea for the Grinch themed event.
There were 40 children who attended plus their parents and grandparents making it over 60 people in attendance. Board members Mary Beth Driesen and Mary Hurd, and Library Director, Twila Lukkes all helped to make this a successful community event.
Santa visited the library as well. He handed out sacks of candy and took pictures with the children. The board members also served Grinch cookies and Grinch punch for refreshments. A bonus this year was that some of the children and parents could watch the exciting end of the Michigan-Ohio State football game on the library’s smart tv before heading to the Avon fire hall for bingo.
