Avon 18U returns for another summer of softball in the Little Missouri Valley Softball League. Avon returns ten players from last year’s squad which went 10-4 and won the league championship. At the plate Avon will have several team leaders returning. Emma Yost (2023 average .605), Lydia Yost (.583), Rilyn Thury (.462), Jordyn Voigt (.400), Emily DeWald (.353), and Macy Voigt (.345) will all be back from a team that batted .347 as a whole. In the circle Avon will return three pitchers that all had victories. Macy Voigt, Rilyn Thury, and Lydia Yost pitched to an ERA of 3.21 a year ago and struck out 102 batters. Kaeli Wallinga, Abby Gretschmann, Maddy Huitema, Karlie DeVries and Kinley Doom all return from last year’s team. Newcomers will include Mackenzie Titze, Brielle Voigt, Kaydence Metzger, Lexi Vanderlei, Libby Kotab, Claudia Sully, Pria Sesler and Ravyn Medricky. Avon will play teams this summer from Menno, Freeman, Mt. Vernon and Crofton (with more games to be added). Avon 18U is coached by Tom Pier and Reece Loewe.
