AVON CHOIR SMALL GROUP CONTEST

On February 8th, 2023, Music Teacher, Autumn Schultz and the Avon choir went to Yankton for the small group contest. They had 20 different small groups going to the competition. The competition was scored by a large variety of judges, some more strict than others. The grading scale goes from the lowest at V (5) to the highest at I (1).

There were nine duets: Lexi Vanderlei and Erica Cahoy Maddy Huitema and Kalee Mixon Airen Cline and Jaydon Driesen Kley Heumi l ler and Al’Shamon Gunter Haley Gillette and Taylor Naser Lance Odens and Randall Powers Ashley Tolsma and Kim Tolsma Kley Heumiller and Landon Thury Ava Cline and Airen Cline Duets scoring a III (3) on their performances: Lexi Vanderlei and Erica Cahoy Maddy Huitema and Kalee Mixon Lance Odens and Randall Powers Ava Cline and Airen Cline Duets scoring a II (2) were: Kley Heumiller and Landon Thury Duets that scored a I (1): Airen Cline and Jaydon Driesen Kley Heumi l ler and Al’Shamon Gunter Haley Gillette and Taylor Nasor Ashley Tolsma and Kim Tolsma A group of three who scored a II (2): Ashley Tolsma, Jaydon Driesen, and Noah Watchorn TherewasalsoaFreshman, Sophomore,Junior,andSenior group. The freshman, sophomore, andjuniorgroupsscored a II (2), and the Seniors scored a I (1). The last group was a junior and senior boys group scoring a II (2).

Solos: Kalee Mixon, Ashley Tolsma, KleyHeumiller,andLance Odens Kalee Mixon scored a III (3), Ashley Tolsma, Kley Heumiller, and Lance Odens all received a II (2).

Finally,therewasonepiano soloperformedbyEricaCahoy, who scored a II (2).

All in all, the competition was a day full of singing and fun for everyone
