The Avon Pirates capped off a successful night on Thursday, February 12, completing the sweep over Tripp/Delmont/ Armour with a 62-46 victory. The win improves the Pirates’ season record to 6-11. Avon had balanced scoring and strong work on the boards to secure the 16-point win. Zander Fathke led the Pirates with 20 points, adding eight rebounds and five assists. Dominic Doom and Al’Shamon Gunter each finished with 16 points. Doom also grabbed seven rebounds with one assist and one steal. Gunter dominated inside, pulling down an impressive 19 rebounds to go along with his 16 points, while adding one assist and two blocks. Cale Cooper contributed four points, seven rebounds and one assist. Grayson Ratzlaff added four points, nine rebounds, four assists and one steal. Brenson Ratzlaff chipped in two points in the win. The Pirates controlled the boards and shared the ball well to secure the sweep on their home court. The Avon Pirates hosted Bridgewater/Emery on Tuesday, February 10, but came up short in a 56-38 loss. The defeat moves the Pirates’ season record to 5-11. Avon battled throughout the contest but struggled to keep pace offensively as Bridgewater/Emery pulled away. Dominic Doom led the Pirates in scoring with 11 points, adding five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Al’Shamon Gunter finished with eight points and dominated the boards with 10 rebounds, while also recording one assist and three blocks. Cale Cooper contributed eight points and two assists, while Grayson Ratzlaff added four points and dished out four assists. Zander Fathke finished with four points, four rebounds and one assist. Braylon Fathke chipped in three points and one rebound. The Pirates will look to regroup as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
