The American Legion Auxiliary, Arthur Wissman Unit 150 of Avon, recently sponsored the 2023 Poppy Poster Contest at Avon Public School.

The 2nd grade winners were: Brynlee Odens (1st Place), Amber Beeson (2nd Place), and Spencer Dykstra (3rd Place). The 3rd grade winners were: Hudson Sees (1st Place), Bronc Cihak (2nd Place), and Stella Ratzlaff (3rd Place). The 4th grade winners were: Whitley Wolf (1stPlace),ColtWolf(2ndPlace),and Keira Fathke (3rd Place). The 5th grade winners were: Rowan Brandt (1st Place), Lydia Lane (2nd Place), and Sydney Johnson (3rd Place). The 6th grade winners were Bailey Wynia (1st Place), Atyliese Akridge (2nd Place), and Addison Lavelle (3rd Place).

In Class I (Grades 2-3), Grand Prize Winner was Dax Fathke. In Class II (Grades 4-5), Grand Prize Winner was Johanna Namminga. In Class III (Grades 6-7), Grand PrizeWinnerwasZanderFathke,In Class VII, the Grand Prize Winner was Dawson Ratzlaff. Grand Prize Winners’ posters were sent on to the American Legion Auxiliary Department of South Dakota for further judging.
