The Avon 12U won big over Springfield REC 13-1 on Monday, June 16. Avon got on the board in the top of the first inning after Stella R doubled, scoring three runs, and an error scored one run. Avon12U scored five runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. Sydney J doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, another error scored one run, and Kensley D singled, scoring one run. Emersyn H earned the win for Avon. The hurler surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out eight and walking none. Stella R went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Kensley had two hits in two at bats. Avon had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Johanna N and Shaeleigh G led the team with two free passes each. Rowan B, Ashley S, and Shaeleigh G each stole multiple bases, while the team as a whole stole 14 bases in the game.

Kensley D drove the middle of the lineup, leading Southeast Elite 12U with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-1 on the day. Number eight hitter, Ashley S, showed the depth of Southeast Elite 12U's lineup, by leading them with two hits in two at bats. Avon had patience at the plate, amassing 13 walks for the game. Whitley W, Stella R, Johanna N, and Kensley D led the team with two bases on balls each. Whitley W, Rowan B, Johanna N, Ashley S, and Kensley D each stole multiple bases for Southeast Elite 12U. Avon stole 20 bases in the game. Southeast Elite 12U were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
AVON DEFEATS MENNO 11-0
The Avon 12U REC defeated Menno by the score of 11-0. Avon got off to a fast start when Emersyn Haenfler led of the game with a single. Sydney Johnson was hit by a pitch and then Rowan Brandt walked loading the bases. Johanna Namminga and Stella Ratzlaff both walked forcing in the first two runs. Whitley Wolf followed with a double clearing the bases and making the score 5-0. In the second Syndey singled scoring another run and after that the Pirates never looked back. The Pirates had a strong performance on the mound. Emersyn pitched two innings of no-hit ball striking out four. Macy Hayes pitched the 3rd surrendering one hit and striking out three. Syndey Johnson finished the last two innings giving up zero hits and striking out four. The Pirates are now 5-0 in league play.
AVON 12U AND 14U REC SWEEPS PARKSTON
A shortened squad of 9 girls was able to win two games against Parkston on Friday night. In the 12U game, the Pirates got off to a fast start scoring five runs in the first inning en route to a final score of 17-2. The big blow was a 2-run double by Kensley Devries which scored Macy Haynes and Johanna Namminga. In the 3rd, Stella Ratzlaff tripled driving in two, followed by another double by Kensley which drove in two more. Shaeleigh Grant also added two hits for the Pirates. Macy Haynes went the distance picking up the win. The right hander struck out 7 in 4 innings of work.
In the 14U game, The Pirates held on to a 13-11 win. The Trojans tried to rally, but Haven Haenfler was able to strike out the last batter leaving the tying runners stranded on 2nd and 3rd base. Leading hitters were Shaeleigh Grant with two hits including a triple and Kensley DeVries with two hits. Johanna Namminga, Macy Haynes, Keira Fathke, Hayley Brandt, and Addison Fathke all added one hit each. Macy Haynes started the game pitching one inning striking out two. Haven Haenfler pitched the last three innings striking out six.
