The Wagner American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) in conjunction with the Wagner American Legion and Sons of the American Legion hosted the Fall District 8 meeting on October 27th. The day started out with a social hour for all attendees to mingle, conversate and get caught up about differing events and activities that various units were undertaking. It was followed by a lunch of tavern, hot dogs and a plethora of homemade salads and desserts provided by Wagner ALA members.
In attendance were several SD Department dignitaries for the American Legion including Department Commander Kevin Morello, Department Vice Commander Kevin Hempel, Department Adjutant C.P. Van Delist, National Executive Committeeman Fred Nelson, and the State Sargeant-at-Arms Greg Geiman. For the SD Department of American Legion Auxiliary dignitaries in attendance were State President AnnaMae Warnier, State First Vice President Susie Learing, State Second Vice President Patrice Sorensen, State Secretary Kayla Kennedy and District 8 President Karen Richelieu. All of the ALA dignitaries were given handmade red, white and blue real flower and poppy corsages that were made by Dolores Kotab and Theresa Kocer with the flowers donated by Vern and Carol Tolsma of Mensch’s Flower Shop.
After the lunch, each of the three groups separated and went into their respective meetings. The ALA held their meeting at the Methodist Church. It was an interesting and successful meeting filled with up-and-coming events, organization goals and different department programming chairs giving reports. There were 20 District 8 members in attendance and eight state representatives.
