February 7 marks the National Girls and Women in Sports Day. 'Lead Her Forward' continues to be the theme for this year's National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential. The NGWSD is an annual day of observance to acknowledge theaccomplishmentsoffemaleathletes,recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and advocation for equality for women in sports. The certificate is presented to outstanding female athletes who exemplify the qualities of excellence in sports skills, leadership, self-discipline and perseverance. This year, the Avon School District recognized McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees as their NGWSD nominees.
