Armed Forces Memorial
After graduation from high school, Don Hubbard went to the University of Nebraska where he met his wife, Joan. He earned a degree in Pharmacy as well as a commission in the United States Marine Corps.
His first assignment was basic training in Quantico, Virginia then Artillery Training in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. In 1966 he was sent to VietNam for 13 months. Returning home he was assigned for one year at Camp Pendleton, Ca., as a General’s Aide.
After being discharged in 1968 they Don and Joan moved to Wagner where he had a job at James Drug, where he worked for 47 years while Joan worked at the school and later at James Drug.
They have two children, Patty who works at James Drug and Tim lives in Lincoln, NE. He installs irrigation systems on professional golf courses. They have five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a puppy, who they enjoy as they retired in 2015.
The Memorial Board would like to thank the Don Hubbard family for purchasing the six Service and American flag of which are flying daily at the Memorial Park. These flags are replaced every six months. The Hubbard family have purchased the flags for the months of July through December of 2021. If you are new to the area, the Armed Forces Memorial is located 1/2 block south of the city park along Front Avenue. To be qualified to be part of the memorial a military person should have an honorary discharge paper for their name to be added to the memorial.
