ANDES CENTRAL SENIOR SPOTLIGHT-ONA’KA DOREN

By
Alyssa Mathis

This week’s featured senior is Ona’ka Doren. Ona’ka is the daughter of Henry Romero and Suzie Doren-Romero. She has six siblings Tre’zen, Kea’ona, Henry, Char’lee, Cheryl and Andreas. Basketball, JAG, FCCLA and volleyball are activities that Ona’ka has been involved in during her high school years at Andes Central. Ona’ka’s favorite school lunch is Thanksgiving dinner. Her favorite high school teacher is Mr. Winter because he is a fun teacher. Her favorite high school memory was getting to play tennis on Mr. Winter’s Wii. In her free time, Ona’ka enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

After graduation, Ona’ka plays to attend Stewart’s School in Sioux Falls to study cosmetology. She will miss seeing her friends every day at school the most when she graduates. Her advice to underclassmen is to “keep your grades up and stay out of drama.” In ten years, Ona’ka sees herself owning her own hair salon and traveling. Her sister, Kea’ona, has been the most influential person in her life. Kea’ona has shown Ona’ka that dreams can come true, and that hard work and dedication really do pay off. If Ona’ka could meet any one person she would want to meet her favorite music artist, Doja Cat.

Enjoy your last year of high school and best of luck in your future endeavors.
