On September 15th, Andes Central had its first ever JAG Initiation and Installment Ceremony. JAG stands for Jobs For America’s Graduates and its mission is to empower the nation’s young people with the skills and support to succeed in education, employment and life. The ceremony was held at 7:30 p.m. in the Andes Central Auxiliary Gym. Syrianna Never Misses A Shot gave the welcome to the event. There was a supper provided by the JAG organization. After the meal, Ignacia Gallegos gave a brief explanation of what the JAG program does and its mission.

There were 16 JAG members individually called up to the stage to receive their certificate of membership and pin. After the members took their vows of membership, JAG president, Mahpiya Irving, gave the JAG officers their certificates and pins and had them recite the membership pledge. The officers then started the lighting of the candles, which eventually was done until every member of the organization had a lit candle. The lighting of the candle was done in hopes of future success for the JAG members. Following the candle lighting ceremony, Kashton Garcia gave the closing and thanked everyone for coming and their support.

Mahpiya as the President of the JAG organization must organize monthly meetings, form committees for upcoming events and is the representative for the group at the state level. Syrianna Never Misses A Shot is the Vice President, Onaka Doren is the Secretary, Leah Brown is the Treasurer, Senior Representative is David Jandreau, Junior Representative is Ty Archambeau, Sophomore Representative is Kashton Garcia and Freshmen Representative is Ignacia Gallegos. Gordon Hooks is the JAG leader/advisor.

Senior members include Onaka Doren, David Jandreau and Anias White Eyes. Junior members are Ty Archambeau, Leah Brown, Kaylise Drappeau, Mahpiya Irving, Syrianna Never Misses A Shot, Muriel Tiger, and Andrew Johnson. Members from the sophomore class are Adaya Arrow, Lorence Edoff, Phoenix Gallegos, Kashton Garcia, Takoda Hare, and Kaitlyn Abdo. Freshmen members include Mike Chasing Hawk, Nehemiah Flying Hawk, Ignacia Gallegos, Brandi Garcia, Hamian Medicine Horn, Steven Nielson, Madeline Waetermans, Brandon Waetermans and Lucas White.
