ANDES CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION: CLASS OF 2020 TO BE HONORED
No one ever imagined that the school year would be ending in such uncertainty. COVID 19 will not dampen the celebration for Andes Central’s graduates however. Graduation will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 3:00 p.m., as previously scheduled.
The graduation ceremony will take place outside on the football field. The graduates along with ten of their invited guests will be allowed into the football complex to experience the ceremony first hand. Other well-wishers are invited to view the ceremony from their vehicles parked along the south and west side of the field. If you are unable to attend you may watch the ceremony via the link found on the District’s Web page (https://www.andescentral.k12.sd.us/).
The Feather Ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., prior to the graduation ceremony. This too will be held at the football field for honorees and invited guests.
In case of rain, the events will be moved to the main gym. In this case, only the graduates and their invited guests will be able to attend the ceremony in person. The link to view the ceremony will be the same as previously mentioned.
Following the ceremony, graduates and well-wishers will be escorted through town by the Lake Andes Fire Department. Please take time to wish them well as they pass by. You will also notice the street banners that will be recognizing the graduates located on Main Street.
Another change that will be happening this year will be that the 8th grade students will not be recognized during the graduation ceremony, but will have a special recognition this fall prior to their entry into high school.
The District has worked with the state Health Department to ensure that all plans meet the requirements set forth dealing with COVID 19.
