ANATOMY CLASS TOURS USD LAB

On April 21, the high school anatomy class took a tour of the University of South Dakota’s Gross Anatomy and Physiology Lab. Senior students Reece Loewe, Samantha Brodeen, Katie Gretschmann, Makayla Kopp, and Trinity Chaisson along with junior Jessica Streit, and teacher Tamara Carns entered the lab with loads of excitement.

Once in the lab, we were asked multiple anatomy questions based off of the skeleton and cadavers. Once the questions were answered, we got to hold parts of the body such as the heart, ribs, and lungs. Then the tour guide brought us over to see what a brain looks like after having alzheimers or having a stroke. We also got to see what an ACL should look like vs what a torn ACL looks like. One of the last things they showed us was gallbladder stones and a massive tumor that was above a woman's uterus.

Senior Katie Gretschmann said, “I had a good time learning new things and I’m glad we got to attend because it was a good learning experience.”
