The American Legion Auxiliary held their annual Americanism Essay and Poetry Contests this year. The Americanism Essay’s theme was “What America the Beautiful Means to Me” and the Americanism poetry contest was “Honor Our Heros”. Unfortunately, this year there were no poetry submissions, but we had an amazing year when it came to essay submissions with 48 entries. The Wagner American Legion is very proud of not only the students that wrote these amazing essays, but also the teachers and administrators that helped facilitate this contest. We are very proud and lucky to live in a community where patriotism is still valued by both our school and our community. There are five students’ whose essays have moved on from the local contest now to the District contest for judging. Our five first place winners were Portlyn Jones, Jaycee Martin, Lydia Yost, Hannah Holzbauer and Jackson Rolston. Congratulations to all and a special thank you to all the students that participated!
