Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11
Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary met February 21 at the Post home with ten members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Kathy Geiman opened with prayer from the Legionette. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Secretary Barb Kucera read the minutes of the previous meeting which were approved as read. Community service chairman Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent. Membership chairman Norma Horner reported there are 72 paid members. Janice Coleman reported we should promote membership. She also reported that the District spring meeting is March 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Yankton. Linda Youngbluth gave the treasurers report which was approved.
Unfinished business: Linda asked about getting the Poppy boards. Kathy Geiman made the motion to get these, it was seconded, motion carried. A discussion was held on our Soup Day and Bake Sale which will be held April 5 from 11 to 2. June is donating a turkey and noodles, Linda will donate the eggs. Linda has the raffle books. The raffle prizes are: $50 gift card donated from the Fort Randall Credit Union, a telephone donated from the Fort Randall Telephone Co., a $20 gift card donated from Wagner Super Foods and a $20 gift card donated from Buche Foods.
New business: next month we (the Auxiliary) will cook the supper for the Legions 100th birthday. The ladies are to bring salads. The Auxiliary will get the meat and potatoes. Linda Youngbluth needs canceled stamps for the Veterans. Marlene Stone said we need to reimburse Wipf & Cotton for our 990 filing fees. Linda Youngbluth made the motion to pay them, it was seconded and carried. A thank you goes out to Janet Koupal for donating the money from the door prize. As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Kathy Geiman read the prayer for peace. President Juanita Stone adjourned the meeting.
