Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11

Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary met on November 18, 2021 at the post home with 12 members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Margie Stone opened with a prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The treasurer report was given and approved.

Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported that we have 64 paid members. Goal is 77. Continue to send dues to Barbara Kucera.

Correspondence was read from District President Ruth Williams.

Community Service Chairman, Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.

National presidents visit was reported on by Barbara Kucera, Linda Youngbluth, and Jeanette Fuchs. There were 400 bags of treats made up for the employees at the Human Services center in appreciation for caring for Veterans at their facility.

President Juanita Stone thanked the members for making and delivering cookies to the school on November 17 for appreciation of staff during National Education week. She also thanked the members who worked and baked for the lunch stand at the Cancer Rummage sale on November 5.

Report was given on the lunch stand sales at the Cancer Rummage Sale. Linda Youngbluth made a motion to donate money to the Wagner Cancer Rummage. Motion carried.

Midwinter Conference will be held on February 18-20, 2022 at Cedar Shores in Oacoma.

Auxiliary members will furnish a salad or desert for the December meeting.

In place of gift exchange, members are to bring items for the food pantry to the December meeting.

Margie Stone made the motion to have Marlene Stone check with the Community Closet for clothing items to take to school for the Early Childhood Program. Motion seconded and carried.

Margie Stone made motion for Linda Youngbluth to purchase candy to put in the Christmas cards for Veterans at the nursing home. Motion seconded and carried.

Continuous member certificates were presented to members: 5 years to Stacy Kappes, Deborah Langrahr and Katheryn Zolnowsky; 15 years to Patricia Kocer and Sandy Seiner; 20 years to Norma Horner; 40 years to Carol Tolliver; 45 years to Patricia Dierks, Sharon Dvoracek and Agnes Nedved.

Thank yous were read from Fishers House and Foundation, Used Stamps for the Wounded, Volunteers of America and Midwest Honor Flight for the donations sent to them.

Margie Stone won the basket and donated it back to the children and youth fund.

As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Juanita Stone adjourned the meeting.
