Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11
Greer Unit # 11, American Legion Auxiliary met on September 16, 2021 at the post home with 11 members present and two guests, Olivia Breen and Alice Koupal.
The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplin Pro Tem Marlene Stone opened with prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Girls State Olivia Breen and her grandmother, Alice Koupal, were introduced. Olivia gave a report on her week at Girls State this summer. Olivia was presented her pin by President Juanita Stone.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected. The treasurers report was given and approved.
Bills were presented by Marlene Stone. Motion made by Barb Kucera to pay the bill from poppy fund. Motion was made by Barb Clemens to pay bill. Motion seconded and carried.
Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported that we have 26 paid members. Goal is 77. No report from the Community Service chairman.
Correspondence was read from the District President Ruth Williams. District fall meeting will be held September 26, 2021 in Hurley, with social hour at 1 p.m. and meeting at 2 p.m. Auxiliary will meet in the United Methodist Church. The National President will be in SD on October 24-28 and will be in Yankton on October 26, 2021.
Dictionaries have been received and marked by Marlene Stone and Norma Horner. They will be delivered to the third graders at Wagner and Marty schools in the next week.
Linda Youngbluth and Barbara Kucera reported on the September Convention. President Juanita Stone thanked members for serving brats at Wagner Super Foods on July 9. Donation of the proceeds will be sent to Honors Flight. Motion was made by Linda Youngbluth to submit the donation. Motion seconded and approved.
Thank you was read from the Dictionary Project.
Members went over the list of donation obligations and amount of the donation. Motion was made by Barb Clemens to pay obligations. Motion was seconded and approved.
Ron Kahler met with members and discussed the donation of memorial gift in memory of Linda Kahler. The donation will be used to purchase six vests for auxiliary members.
The basket was won by Bonnie Soukup and donated back to the children and youth fund.
The Auxiliary Charter was draped in memory of Linda Kahler by Juanita Stone and Barbara Wiechmann.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplin Pro Tem Marlene Stone read the prayer for peace.
