Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11

By

Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary met November 15 at the Post home with 13 members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Kathy Geiman opened with prayer from the Legionette. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble was recited in unison.

Secretary Barb Kucera read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read. Linda Youngbluth read the treasurers report and they were approved. Janice Coleman's letter was read and she reminded us that mid year reports are due and everyone should try to get new members. Membership chairman Norma Horner reported we have 61 members paid, goal is 84. Community Service chairman Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.

Unfinished business: Linda Youngbluth reported the final total from the cancer rummage. We will donate our profits to the cancer fund. Maggie Barnett will be the Legion and Auxiliary queen candidate. Juanita Stone made a Christmas tree ornament for the tree at the capital and set it to them. Cookies for Education Week were made and taken to the school.

New business: We will fill socks with soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste and other personal items for the women's shelter and to the law enforcement at Lake Andes for the homeless and the Wagner Police Station for the homeless in Wagner. In December the members are to bring salads or dessert for the Christmas meal. The members are also to bring food for the Food Pantry instead of a gift exchange. On December 14 Wagner is going to have a Parade of Lights. Juanita Stone made a motion to make a float to participate in this parade, there was a second, motion carried. Linda Youngbluth said the State Auxiliary are filling pillow cases with clothes and personal items, our district needs to bring toothpaste, toothbrushes and combs. We need these by mid winter conference.

As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Kathy Geiman read the prayer for peace. President Juanita Stone adjourned the meeting.
