Statewide race results were: Presidential 62% for Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence, 3% for Jo Jorgensen and Jeremy Cohen and 36% for Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris; United States Senator 66% for Mike Rounds and 34% for Dan Ahlers; United States Representative 81% for Dusty Johnson and 19% for Randy Luallin; Public Utilities Commissioner 68% for Gary Hanson, 5% for Devin Saxon and 27% for Remi Bald Eagle.
District race results include for District 21 State Senator Erin Tobin with 70% of the votes and Dan Andersson with 30%. State Representative has Rocky Blare with 35%, Caleb Finck with 34% and Jessica Hegge with 30%.
County race results showed 67% in support of Donald Trump and Michael Pence, 1% for Jo Jorgensen and Jeremy Cohen and 31% for Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris; United States Senator showed 66% for Mike Rounds and 33% for Dan Ahlers; United States Representative results show 80% in support of Dusty Johnson and 19% for Randy Luallin; Public Utilities Commissioner results showed 69% for Gary Hanson, 2% for Devin Saxon and 28% for Remi Bald Eagle.
The majority of voters statewide voted in support of the Supreme Court Retention on Justice Steven Jensen representing the First Supreme Court District, whose term was to expire January 1, 2021 to be retained in office with 81% of the votes. The Constitutional Amendment A: An amendment to the South Dakota Constitution to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana and to require the legislature to pass laws regarding hemp as well as laws ensuring access to marijuana for medical use, showed 54% voting yes in support of the amendment. The Constitutional Amendment B: An amendment to the South Dakota Constitution authorizing the legislature to allow sports wagering in Deadwood, showed 58% in support of the amendment. Initiated Measure 26: An initiated measure to legalize marijuana for medical use passed with 70% of the vote.
As of Saturday morning, the Associated Press reported that Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted through a surge of mail-in-votes which delayed processing, but the final count is not finalized as of print time.
