ACT PREPARATION COURSE TO BE OFFERED TO AREA STUDENTS

By
Dana Sanderson

During this time of year we find many students thinking seriously about what their future may hold and what will be needed to help them make their dream career a reality.

Many find themselves wondering if they will be ready to deal successfully with what will be expected of them as many realize post-high education is very different than high school. Some students will be confident they are ready when they leave school to successfully compete for educational or career opportunities while others sometimes face the fear they will be unprepared for the next step in life.

One topic of concern for many students is the testing that is often expected and sometimes required for scholarship competition or admission into special majors at the college level. Some students find themselves worrying about how they will do on their exam and how their score will affect their opportunities. Some students worry about this so much that it affects how they actually perform when they take the exam. Some students find themselves not really thinking much about the ACT until test day and then they discover, “Oh my gosh, I had no idea this is what I was supposed to be ready for! I should have done someting to get ready!” Either way, it can be pretty stressful for a student to deal with.

To help with this issue, the Armour High School is arranging for “THE ACT PREP COURSE” to be offered in the evenings at their school beginning in early March. Any area student is welcome to become a part of this special ACT preparation course. This course has been refined over a span of 35 years and has developed into a comprehensive approach to ACT test preparation and involves 18 hours of class instruction, teaching students a variety of test strategies, experiencing several practice tests in reading, English, math and science sub-test areas to help students become more cofident with taking the exam. This course is designed to help students identify weakness areas and learn positive ways to better use what they already know so they can do their best on the exam. The Armour School has offered this course for the past several years and the course typically involves students from several of the area communities all have the same goal, to do their best on the ACT. Applications are now being accepted for the course and seating is very limited. The registration will close as soon as the seats available are filled. Any junior in the area that is looking for a way to better prepare for the exam should call or e-mail for more informatiron. Students and parents with questions about this course and the cost involved should contact Dana Sanderson as soon as possible at: danasanderson51@gmail.com or telephone at 491-0804.
