ACT PREP COURSE TO BE OFFERED TO AREA JUNIORS
At this time of the year we find many students thinking seriously about what their future holds and what will be needed to help make their dream job become a reality. Many find themselves wondering if they will be ready to deal successfully with what will be expected of them as they look towards the end of high school and what comes after. As with every generation, some students will be confident they are ready when they leave school to successfully compete for opportunities while others sometimes fear they will be unprepared for the next step in life.
As seniors are preparing to leave high school, many juniors are also getting ready for their turn to decide what is in their future. For students going on to college, an ACT exam may be required. Some students find themselves worrying about how they will do on their exam and will their score allo them to get the opportunities they are looking for. Some students worry about this so much that it affects how they perform when they actually take the exam. Some students find themselves not really thinking much about the ACT or their future until test day and then they discover, “Oh my gosh, I had no idea this is what I was supposed to be ready for! I should have done someting to get ready!” Either way, it can be very stressful.
While the ACT test is important, students need to understand that the entrance into post-high educational programs or institutions will includes many other factors along with the results of their exam. Students need to research and examine what will be expected of them if they have goals for the future. Preparation is a key part of this step, whether it is by the student themselves or through some type of preparation class. For this reason, a special course entitled “THE ACT PREP COURSE” is being offered to interested juniors who plan to take the exam in April or June. The course was created to help provide students with test instruction, discussion, testing strategy ideas for the test areas of reading, English, math and science, in addition to lots of practice.
This course has been refined over a span of almost 30 years and has developed into a comprehensive approach to test preparation involving 18 hours of class instruction and practice testing opportunities to help students become more cofident and relaxed with taking the exam. This course is designed to help students identify weakness areas and learn positive ways to better use what they already know. Students taking this course ussually come from different area schools and all have the same goal, to do their best on the ACT. This course is being offered at the Armour High School beginning March 9 so students are ready for the April and June test dates. Applications are now being accepted for the course and seating is limited. The registration will close once the seats available are filled. Any student in the area that is looking for a way to prepare for the exam should consider this opportunity. Students and parents with questions about this course and the cost involved should contact Dana Sanderson as soon as possible at: danasanderson51@gmail.com or telephone at 491-0804.
