ACT PREP COURSE AVAILABLE TO AREA JUNIORS
Many students are focused upon their future and what they need to do to get their dream job. Whether or not they will be ready to deal with what is needed to be successful is also of great concern to many parents and guardians. As with every generation, some students will be ready when they leave school to successfully compete for opportunities, while others will stumble because they will be caught completely unprepared.
While seniors are preparing to leave high school, area juniors are getting ready for their turn to decide what is in their future. Some students find themselves worrying alot about how they will do on their ACT exam, because they understand the importance it has on their educational options. Some students worry about this so much that it negatively affects how they perform when they actually take the exam. Some students find themselves not really thinking much about the ACT or their future until test day and then they discover, “Oh my gosh, I had no idea this is what I was supposed to be ready for. I should have done someting to get ready!” Either way, both groups of students end up negatively affecting the opportunities that are out their for them and they are left with a big “wish for a do over”
While the ACT test is important, students also need to understand that the entrance into post-high educational programs or educational institutions includes many other factors as well. Students need to seriously examine what will be expected of them if they have dreams for the future. Serious preparation is a key part of this step, whether it is by the student themselves or through some type of preparation class. For this reason, a special course is being offered to area juniors who will be taking the ACT this spring. “THE ACT PREP COURSE” was created to help provide class instruction, discussion, testing strategy ideas and test practice in each area of the exam. The primary focus is on English, math, reading and science, along with test strategy and lots of practice. Any student in the area that is looking for better ways to prepare for the exam should consider this special opportunity. This course was developed and has been refined over a span of more than 24 years and has developed into a comprehensive approach to test preparation involving 18 hours of class instruction and practice testing opportunities to help students do their best on the exam. This course is designed to help students identify weakness areas and learn ways to better use what they already know.
Students taking this course generally come from a variety of different area schools with students who have the same goal in mind, wanting to do their best on the ACT. This course is being offered at the Armour High School beginning in early March so students are ready for the April and June test dates. The deadline to apply for the course is February 22, but due to limited seating, registration will end as soon as the seats are filled. Students and parents with questions about this course and the cost should contact Dana Sanderson as soon as possible at: danasanderson51@gmail.com or telephone at 491-0804.
