AC/DC CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
Seven runners for the Andes Central/Dakota Christian Sports Coop showed ready to run on the first day of practice this past Thursday, August 15. Retuning letter winners on the girls’ team are: 10th grader Sonja Hansum and 9th grader Isabelle Brouwer. Seventh grader Kaylee Dykshorn will be a newcomer to the varsity level.
For the boys Peter Backes in just his second year to the sport is a returning letterman.
Also running for the Thunder will be 8th grader Tony Hansum.
Sixth grade runners are Langford DeKam and Lexi Schoenfelder.
Coach Lucas is looking for his runners to bring home some individual place medals from their meets. “Isabella Brower has become a well know talented distance runner.
She comes into the season as last year’s runner up at the Class B State Meet. Isabella also placing second in the 3200 at the State Track Meet and took first in 1600 meter run.
This helps raise the bar for everyone. Other cross country teams now know who AC/DC is and they look at us to see who our new and developing runners are.”
The first two cross country meets for AC/DC will be on Saturday, August 31 at Mitchell with a start time of 10:00 am and at Scotland on September 10th. The Mitchell Invitational Meet will be held at the Middle School in Mitchell and involves runners from Avon, Bridgewater/Emery, Chamberlain, Hanson, Kimball, Miller, Mitchell Christian, Mt. Vernon-Plankinton, Platte-Geddes, Redfield-Doland, Tripp-Delmont/Armour, Wagner, Wolsey-Wessington, and Woonsocket.
