The Andes Central/Dakota Christian Thunder Cross Country Runners completed their regular season by running personal or season best times at the Parkston Invite last Thursday, October 6. Leading the way was Junior Tony Hansum with a personal best 5K of 19:22. Tony now sets with the 12th best time in the Class B Region 3 with the Region Meet being this Wednesday, October 12th in Burke.

For the girls, Senior Anna De-Haan was just 2 seconds off her personal best covering the course in 20:42 finishing in 9th place and earning a Meet medal. Lexi Schoenfelder and Eilie DeHaan also ran season best times in 21:33 and 22:10 respectfully, finishing 16th and 22nd.

The top 20 runners in the Region Meet qualify for the State Meet October 22 in Huron. Coach Larry Lucas is hopeful that everyone on the team will qualify for the State Meet. “Things look good for us, noted Coach Lucas. Tony looks stronger and faster each race and I look for him to break 19 minutes this year. Anna is 5th, Lexi 6th, and Eilie is 8th for best times in the Region. The top three teams also qualify and our girls’ team will be very competitive with the other region teams to be one of the top three. The qualifiers are determined strictly at the Region Meet so on Wednesday we need to give it we can.”
