AC/DC CROSS COUNTRY AT CONFERENCE
The Lady Thunder Runners for Andes Central/Dakota Christian won the Great Plains Conference Cross Country Meet last Thursday in Burke. The team of Lexi Schoenfelder, Anna DeHaan, and Eilie DeHaan edged Freeman Academy/Marion 27-28 and Centerville, third, with 29 points. Other Conference scores were Gayville-Volin 29, Burke 32, Scotland 50, and Alcester Hudson 51. The girls’ team from Kimball-White Lake
were the best team in the Burke Invitational followed by James Valley Christian. Gregory was the boys’ champions with 22 points to Freeman Academy/Marion at 24
Anna DeHaan was the top finisher for the Thunder with an 11th place finish (22:16), Lexi placed 17th (22:48), and Eilie earned a medal in 20th (23:10). Their places in the GPC were Anna 6th, Lexi 10th, and Eilie 11th.
Tony Hansum placed 7th in the GPC running his season best at 20:12, but just missed a medal in the Invitational Meet with at 21st finish.
Individual winners in the races were Jada Koerner (20:15) and Travin Schroeder (17:32), both from Freeman Academy/Marion
“I was really proud of the effort our runners put forth, said Coach Larry Lucas. It was very windy, but they ran strong in spite of the weather conditions. The Region Meet for the girls is shaping up to be very close between us, Freeman Academy/Marion, Menno, Burke, and Gregory. We need to have another good meet next week in Parkston to be ready for the Region on October 12”
The Meet at Parkston on Thursday starts at 4:15 pm and the Region 3B Meet will be in Burke.
