AARP CHAPTER 962

September 21, 2021 Minutes

The first AARP Chapter 962 meeting was held since the Covid-19 outbreak in March 2020, on Tuesday, September 21 at 12:30 p.m. at the Park View Villa, Wagner.

Vice-President, Virginia Petrik opened the meeting with all reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. President Jane Kostel is in the Lake Andes nursing home as well as our treasurer, Janis Nedved. Present were six members: Roy King, Virginia Petrik, JoEllen Carda, Sandy Swatek, Darlene Rysavy and Mary Ann Deurmier

Roy wrote down the minutes. Mary Ann Deurmier also took notes.

Treasurer report has $390.05 in the Commercial State Bank. JoEllen has $10.75 in the Bingo fund. She will contact the Good Samaritan Center to see if we can go in there and play Bingo for the residents.

After discussion on getting more members to join, Roy King will put an article in the Wagner Announcer which will cost $52.00. Mary Ann Deurmier will make posters and put them at the Park Villa and the grocery stores. Also will put it on Channel 7 for the Wagner area. Also will announce it by word of mouth.

Anyone wishing to join the Wagner area Chapter are encouraged and welcomed to come to the meetings on the third Tuesday of the month after lunch at the Park View Villa, Wagner. Also have fun volunteering on projects, going on tours, visiting, playing Bingo, etc. and extra activities that come up to do.

Next Meeting is October 19 at 12:30 p.m.

AARP CHAPTER 962

October 19, 2021 Minutes

The AARP Chapter 962 was held at the Park View Villa, Wagner, at 12:15 on Tuesday, October 19 with six members present: Roy King, Virginia Petrik, JoEllen Carda, Sandy Swatek, Dona Meiers and Mary Ann Deurmier.

Virginia Petrik opened the meeting with all reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roy King took over the meeting and gave the treasurer’s report with a balance of $339.65. Also collected $3.50 for Bingo.

Jo Ellen Carda said there is $16.25 in the Bingo fund and hasn’t heard from the Good Samaritan Center if we can play Bingo yet, they are supposed to let us know. JoEllen Carda was asked to contact them again.

Roy King said to keep track of your volunteer hours.

Discussion was on where to go on the tours, maybe the Butterfly house, Christmas Trees in Pierre or the courthouse in Lake Andes, plays in Mitchell and Christmas at Nora. Roy King will check to see if he can drive the ROC bus to take us.

Discussing on having new officers, Mary Ann Deurmier volunteered to take the Secretary’s job. Past Secretary, Dona Meiers turned the books over to Mary Ann Deurmier. The minutes will be put in the Wagner Post.

Next meeting in November 16 after having lunch at 12:15 p.m.
